FOUR DERBY ENTRIES IN SMALL STABLE Oklahoma Turfmen Have Named Half of Their String for Coveted Kentucky Race LOUISVILLR Ky March 28 For a rather small and unpretentious stable the racing estab ¬ lishment of A L O Rogers is better repre ¬ sented in the list of Kentucky Derby eligibles than most of the larger stables that have made entries to the rich stake The Oklahoma turfmen with but nine horses in training have named four of the number and these together with the others belonging to the stable are at Churchill Downs where their training is being conducted bv R T Runnells RunnellsTexas Texas Special Cerinus John 0 and Enmity com ¬ pose the quartet of the Rogers Derby eligibles and while their owners are not presumptions enough to believe that either one can be classed with the tppnotcliers that are among the eligibles they be ¬ lieve that from among the number one may be de ¬ veloped that will be worthy to send after ° tlu val ¬ uable prize Many surprises have been furnished in the fortyfour years history of the Derby and this years renewal may bring with it just as great an upset as in 1013 when the lightly re ¬ garded Donerail triumphed over Ten Point and others othersAll All of the Rogers eligibles are being trained with a view of starting them in the Derby special at ¬ tention being paid to Texas Special and Cerinus which showed fair form as twoyearolds John O and Enmity did not get a chance to show any ¬ thing last year never having faced the barrier in a race raceAs As a twoyearold Cerinus won two races was second three times and third on two occasions his total earnings amounting to 2734 Texas Special Avon but one race in nine starts with only a small amount earned Cerinus is by Transvaal and is bred to go in the mud while Texas Special is a son of Ballot and can run only on a fast track Both colts have developed wonderfully since last fall particularly Texas Special which lias grown into one of the bestlooking threeyearolds in local training This colt was a slow beginner in his races but has always evinced a disposition to go a long route and on thks account his chances are better fancied by his owners over Cerinus which api ears to be a sprinter pure and simple simpleThe The other horses in the Rogers Darn are the threeyearolds Day of Wrath and Sir John Aerne and the fouryearold Rog There are only a couple of twoyearolds these being Gloom brown filly by Blues Royal Lady and Little Sandy chestnut seldins by Harrigan Lemon Girl
