OLDTIMERS RACE A BIG SUCCESS George Odom and Jerry Carroll Ride the Winners Plate Presented to All tho Riders PIMLICO Md May 13 The oldtimers race which was run at Pimlico this morning before a large gathering is an innovation which is certain tobecome one of the bis at tract itMi 6f tlie future Spring meetings of tlie Maryland Jockey Club There was as much enthusiasm shown over the running of this race as some of the big stake races and there was certainly as iniich sentiment attached to it especially aniong the old guard who turned out en masse to cheer their old friends wlir sported silks this morning morningThe The nice was run in two divisions George Odom who had itlie mount on Sam Hildretiis pony Bill Pinkcrton beat M Hirscli out three lengths in the first division while Jerry Carroll who Was astride Teddy Polo beat Little Mike Daly out a nose in tlie second division Carroll and Daly put up a great finish all through the homestretch but youth prevailed at the end and Carroll got the decision Daly brought his mount up from behind entering the homestretch where he canie through next to the inside rail railAt At the conclusion of the running of these two races n consolation race between tlie two horses that finished last in each division was run and James Fitzsimmons on F C Frisbies Blackie Daw beat Beii Pope who had the leg up on AV L Olivers Billie O All of tlie riders were presented with a piece of handsome plate and the owners of the tliree placed ponies and also both of the starters in tlie consolation nice were presented with a piece of plate Sam Fisher who had the mount oil Bennings had his first mount at Pimlico iu 1874 thirtyfive years ago
