SPUR IS TO RACE THIS SEASON NEW YORK N Y May 19 James Butler has decided to again race his good sixyearold Spur and the stout little sixyearold has joined the other horses from East View at Empire City Spur was one of the bust threeyearolds of 1910 winning the Travers Withers Stakes as well as the South ampton Knickerbocker and Jerome Handicaps de ¬ feating the best of his own age as well as the cracks of the allaged division divisionNo No tbreeyearoid in America with the possible exception of Hanover ever bad a more strenuous campaign and many as hard rides with big weight up No doubt this had something to do with Spurs failure to show his best form last year As a threeyearold he started in twentyone races won eight was second eight times fourth three times and only once unplaced He displayed much of tlie bulldog charactertistics of his sire King James JamesTills Tills spring Spur is big and strong and being absolutely sound he will have to be reckoned with in racing over a long distance of ground
