IMPORTANT MARYLAND RACING PLANS There is a movement on foot in Maryland to dupli ¬ cate the project which was successfully put through in Kentucky last winter of consolidating all the race tracks of the state under one management with local ownership The purpose is to divert the profits of racing from nonresident stockholders who are said to have received dividends of one hundred per cent or more in some cases last year The yearThe strength of the movement was fir t shown at the meeting of the directors of the Marylair5 State Fnir Laurel May 16 when S L Jenkins was elected president in place of the late Senator John ¬ son and Arilliam P Riggs secretary and steward of Pimlico was chosen to act in an advisory capa ¬ city for future racing at Laurel The plan in view by the reformers embraces the improvement and beaiitlfication of the courses increase of purses and stakes along the line followed by Pimlico and the reduction of dividends for the stockholders
