SARDANAPALES WINNING PROGENY Grand race horse that he was one of the best that ever trod a French track it does not appear that as yet Sardanapale has done anything of note since his retirement to the stud It may be that standing at a fee of 2000 he has been awarded scant patronage during the distressful rigors of the great war Or it may be that he may prove a failure as a sire as many another brilliant race horse has done here and abroad However he is still a young horse and lias ample time to achieve fame in the stud commensurate with his noble record in racing The fact that there is nothing to his credit in the French winning sire list of 1JIS seems to point to the conclusion that he was not represented in French twoyearold racing of last year Several yearSeveral twoyearolds by him raced in this coun ¬ try last year and did no great things but Alphee won a couple of races Ithijcs and Alphee have won as threeyearolds and drawn hopeful attention to him Alphees race was only a sprint of three quarters but was done in a way suggestive of her ability to do still butter things Her unusual pedigree so far as this country is concerned is as follows
