meeting of tin Empire City Racing Association which opens on Saturday next July 12 and continues until Thursday July 31 undoubtedly will be one of the best of the year as the cream of the thoroughbreds in training in the east and west will meet at the Yonkers course for the first time It will be the commencement of the rivalries between Kentucky and New York and it is the addition of this new blood which will give an added piquancy to a racing season noteworthyThe already noteworthy The Empire City track can be reached quickly by numerous routes and spectators have a perfect view of the races from every portion of the ibeaiitiful new clubhouse the spacious grandstand and the lawn Empire City has always had a loyal following from the Bronx and the towns beyond the New York border in Connecticut Residents of tliese districts have found it so easy of access that many racing enthusiasts daily Journey from Greenwich Stam ¬ ford Bridgeport and other cities and towns in the Nutmeg State The chief attraction for opening day the Em ¬ pire City Handicap of 5000 will bring but a crack field and it is bound to be a good race as Mr Vosburgh has adjusted the weights with the skill which long ago earned for him the reputation of being the premier of American handicappcrs handicappcrsEMPIRE EMPIRE FIRST BTTN IN 1907 1907The The Empire City Handicap has always produced great struggles It was first run for in 1907 when Prince Ahmed won and since that time Dalmatian Short Grass Spur Roanier and other really good horses have won it Spur carried the colors of presi ¬ dent
