FEAR SIR BARTON ON EDGE TOO LONG General Opinion Advanced After His Defeat in Dwyer Stakes Be Frank in Empire City Handicap HandicapNEW NEW YORK N Y July 10 It was the general opinion after the finish of the Dwyer Stakes that Sir Barton had been kept on edge too long and while not detracting from the merits of Purchase in any degree it was a case of a stale colt trying to give nine pounds to a threeyearold which had not gone through the strenuous campaign which Mr Bedwell found it necessary to administer to Sir Barton in order to have him ready to accomplish the great things the stout little son of Star Shoot has done this year Their next meeting at equal weighs should be the race of the year yearC C M Garrison announced at the track when questioned as to why his good gelding Be Frank was an absentee from the Dwyer Stakes that he had Instructed trainer Jennings to get him ready for the Empire City Handicap on Saturday and that his colt would be a starter rain or shine WiOi 109 pounds on his back Be Frank should piit up a sterling performance It was at Empire City that Be Frank graudated from the maiden ranks last year winning the fiveeighths dash in 100 100Purchase Purchase was bred by W B Miller of Connecti ¬ cut Mr Miller bought a number of mares from J E Madden among them Cherryola When Pur ¬ chase was born Mr Madden fancied him and bought him as a weanling Under the rules Mr Miller gets i the credit as the breeder
