STUDY OF NATIVE FUR BEARERS MADE WASHINGTON D C July 17 Studies of the adaptability of native fur bearers to domestication says tlie annual report of the Biological Survey have been continued at the experimental fur farm in Essex County New York The animals studied comprise blue foxes minks martens fishers and skunks skunksValuable Valuable results have been secured from the experiments relative to thp feeding housing and general niauagement of these animals Suitable en ¬ closures have been erected for the animals and equipment provided for preparing and preserving food 1 In addition to investijrational work at the ex ¬ perimental fur farm close touch has been main ¬ tained with fur breeders and all phases of the fur industry from tlie fare of animals to methods of dressing dyeing cleaning and storing furs in order to make this information available to the interested public Investigations have been made vf the basic structure and quality of various furs and of parasites and diseases affecting fur bearers
