RACING IN CANADA IS TO START Quebec Tracks Plan Over Fifty Days Sport Begin ¬ ning August 16 SARATOGA SPRINGS N Y August 4 Racing this year in Montreal is practically assured ac ¬ cording to Mr Joseph Catharanitch and Louis Letor neau two men prominent in racing circles in Quebec Province They arrived here Jast night and today were soliciting owners to send horses to Montreal for at least fortytwo days of racing and probably more The intention is to hold meetings of fourteen days at Mount Royal and fourteen at Delorimier Park one meeting of seven days at Kempton Park and possibly two meetings if conditions warrant and one meeting at King Edward Park According to Mr Catlauuish the four institutions have pooled their interests and the meetings will be held under the same management The first meeting is scheduled for August 16 it being presumed that peace will have been declared by that date by King George of England after which according to advice and general understanding the war measure affect ¬ ing racing will be rescinded It is believed there will be little trouble in getting horses as there is a surplus here of the lower grades which can be gathered gatheredMr Mr Letourneau and Joseph Catharanitch returned tonight to complete arrangements for the meetings Quite a number of horses will be shipped from here to Montreal and two or three carloads from Mary ¬ land They have already procured a license from the Province of Quebec to resume racing The first meeting will be held at Delorimier Park ParkThere There is a report here that Devonshire Park track Windsor Ontario has been sold Mr Dug gan who held a large block of the stock will transfer his interests tomorrow it is said It could not be learned who the purchasers were wereMONTREAL MONTREAL DISTRICT PLANS PLANSMONTREAL MONTREAL Qtie August 4 That racing will be resumed on the Montreal tracks is now assured unless the government Intervenes The clubs de ¬ cided at a meeting here on Saturday that if suf ¬ ficient horses can be secured for racing fiftysix days of sport will be given in Montreal during the remainder of the summer season The clubs will take horses off at Montreal and application for stabling should be made to Thomas J Duggan room 4 210 St James street Montreal at once Racing will probably start on Saturday August 16
