PLENTY OF KENTUCKY FAIR RACING A8HLANI Ky August 7 Running races will be a big feature of the BoydT County Fair to be held here next week The management has set aside 1600 for purse money for thoroughbred con ¬ tests and quite a few owners who are summering their horses at Lexington will ship here The racing will be conducted under the rules of the Kentucky State Racing Commission The big attraction will be the Ashland Derby to be decided August 15 Its distance will be one and one sixteenth miles for a 5300 purse It is ex ¬ pected that Starkey winner of the Montgomery County Derby at Mt Sterling Ky and Bdgart which finished second to him will again meet in it Ken Chapman owner of Itogart lias had his horses here since the Mt Sterling meeting closed closedThe The local fair grounds boastj of one of the best halfmile tracks in the state and for several weeks past workmen have been grooming it so that it will be faster than ever for this years meeting meetingParimutuel Parimutuel machines will be used and iliis de ¬ partment will be in charge of William Dondas of Latonia Ky Following the close at Ashland on August 1C the colored fair at Lexington Ky will open for six days and there will be three running races each day witli a daily purse distribution of 500 The i arimutuels will be on there also In Charge of DomUis Rice Porter will act as racing secretary This will make ten days racing racingAfter After a lapse of a week the Blue Grass Fair at Lexington will offer 15iOOO in purses for running races and it is expected that the best horses at the Kentucky Association course will meet in them This fair will take the form of a regular race meeting with AVilliaih H Shelley as racing sccre tary and R L Baker as presiding judge
