ABE GARSON VISITOR AT SARATOGA SARATOGA SPRINGS N Y August 8 Abe Garson one of the old brigade and father of Jnle and Ike Garson got in from New York and was at the course renewing old acquaintances Mr Gar son has not missed a meeting at Saratoga in thirty five years and in tlie long ago raced some of the best steeplechasers that went through the Sara ¬ toga field He won the Beverwyck Steeplechase with Quebec and his old colored rider Ben Pope won many a jumping race with a horse by Meles sian called Abraham There were thirtysix jumps in the long course in those days said Mr G arson and it took a horse true at heart to negotiate them Saratoga is one of my favorite spots and I still like a good horse as well as ever everMr Mr Garson is an upstate man and was born in Syracuse Jule his son is one of the successful younger generation of trainers Jule was an active bidder at the yearling sales the other night and secured a couple of choice offerings for himself and Mr Houseman who is interested with him in tlie ownership of the horses which race iu liis colors
