Arthur B Hancock master of Claiborne Stud in Kentucky and Ellerslie Stud in Virginia had his hand shaken many times last night and was the recipient of numerous congratulations upon the successful sale last night of the thorough Tired yearlings from his two noted establishments establishmentsThe The thirty head Mr Hancock sent under the hammer brought an aggregate of 143500 an average of 478333 Seventeen in his consignment were by Celt son of Commando and Maid of Erin and they brought him 108300 an average of 637060 637060In In addition to the thirty sold for the account of Mr Hancock there were sold nine for Captain P M Walker of Page Brook Stud in Virginia which brought 26700 two for Samuel Ross of Washington D C and one for Frank Shannon of Virginia which brought the grand total of the sale to 177000 for fortytwo head the general average for the evening being 421430 421430Included Included in the Hancock consignment were five of the progeny of Major August Belmonts Fair Play which brought 19800 an average of 3960 3960There There were three of the progeny of Ultimus now the property of Hal Price Headley and William B Miller which brought an aggregate of 21400 averaging
