NATURALIST BADLY INJURED SARATOGA SPRINGS N Y August 19 Naturalist whose phenomenal performance on Monday has made the talent regard him as one of the greatest sprinters that the American turf has ever known will not be seen under colors again during the current meeting He was quite severely cut in the pastern of one of his forelegs either at the post or at the threeeighths post when he was in tight quarters Dr McCully stopped the flow of blood with difficulty and while the injury will not be permanent it will keep the flying son of Rabelais out of public competition for some time Mr Widener is tremendously pleased of course with Naturalists races this year and regrets the necessity which compelled his having to be gelded But he is consoled by the fact that he has a future stock horse from Nature in a colt by Ecouen a son of St Frusquin Nature is again in foal to Rabelais
