CAVALRY MOUNTS ENDURANCE RACE NEW YORK X Y August 19 To stimulate interest in breeding of cavalry mounts in the United States and to determine the performance of various breeds under severe conditions of a forced march a competitive endurance contest for saddle horses over a selected 300inile course from Fort Ethan Allen Vt to Camp Devens Mass will be held October 14 to 18 it has been announced by W R Brown of Berlin N II president of the Arabian Horse Club of America and Albert W Har ¬ ris of Chicago In addition to the cash prizes the United States Cavalry Cup will be put up for annual competition to become the permanent prop ¬ erty of the owner winning it three times timesThe The horses will start at the same time and cover sixty miles a day for five consecutive days rain or shine carrying 200 pounds of equipment includ ¬ ing rider In making the awards the judges will allow fifty er cent for condition twentyfive per cent for speed and twentyfive per cent for feed consumed
