ALL READY FOR LEXINGTON OPENING Track and Grounds in Fine Condition Indications Point to Most Successful Meeting. LEXINGTON, Ky., September 0. AVith the exception of the stables of George J. Long, John AV. Schorr. Jerome B. Respess and Harry Payne AVhit-noy, virtually all of the horses that are to race at the Kentucky Jockey Clubs Lexington autumn meeting of seven days, which is to be inaugurated next Saturday with the Phoenix Hotel Handicap as he feature event of the afternoon, are here. The strings of Messrs. Long, in charge of trainer Pete Coyne, and Schorr, in charge of trainer Louis Timber, are due from Louisville Monday. The Res-pess and AVhitney strings, the latter in charge of Mose Goldblatt, are at Latonia and will be here early in the week. Robert L. Baker, manager; judge AAilliain . II. Shelley, racing secretary; Gene Elrod, superintendent of the pari-mutuel offices, and John M. Keegan, track superintendent, all answered "ready" to inquiries as to preparedness for the meeting. The horses, by their morning gallops and the racing they have been doing this week at the Blue Grass Fair, make the same answer to the same question and it is not improbable, rather it is to be expected, that this is going to be the most successful meeting of the autumn season in a long time in the blue grass section. The weather today was bright and warm and the track was in prime condition for training. Accordingly many horses were out and the work the majority iif them, did was eminently satisfactory to trainers and observers. The best move at a mile was Minto II.s 1:41. This is W. V. Thraves Eng-lish-breil candidate for the Lexington Cup Handicap, at one mile and a half, to be run one week from AVednesday. Jack Hare Jr.. owned by Col. AV. E. Applegate and also in Kay Spenees string, worked an impressive three-quarters, the time being 1:151-,, quite easily. AVords of AVisdom, always a fast worker, galloped three-quarters in 1:14 for John M. Goode. The order of the morning at this distance was from 1:16 to 1:19. Honor Man. a three-year-old maiden in AAill Perkins string, worked five-eighths in 1:00, while Joe Hawkins Huiitermann did it in 1:01 and II. II. Hewitts Sam Reh and Travesty raced together for John I. Smith in 1:01. Alary Josephine, a three-year-old in Al Kirbys string, worked in 49, which was the mornings best at the distance.
