GENERAL NEWS NOTES OF THE DAY CHICAGO. 111., September 0. -Weather forecast: Illinois, Missouri, AVisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas Fair tonight and probably Sunday; continued warm. Minnesota Partly cloudy tonight and Sunday; possibly showers in northeast portion; not much change in temperature. General forecast: High temperature will probably continue over the middle western states for several days and tlu weather will be generally fair, although rain is likely from the northern lakes westward. CHARLESTON, AV. Aa., September 0. Five hundred miners who left Oak Grove this morning to march across the mountains to Coal River, when; they intend to enforce unionization in mines, were joined at Racine on the Little Coal River by 3,000 more men, according to word received by Gov. John J. Cornwell shortly before noon. All of the men are said to be armed. According to information received from a local coal operator, the operators of the Guyan field yesterday unloaded a carload of machine guns at different places in Logan County as a preparation to meet the miners from the Kanawha and Coal River fields. WASHINGTON, T. C, September 0. The state department received a dispatch from the embassy at Mexico City today announcing that the Mexicans who held up and robbed American sailors from the monitor Cheyenne in the Tampico district some weeks ago had been caught and are beinj; held at Tampico. Some of the personal belongings of the sailors were recovered. COLUAIBUS, Ohio, September 5. An agreement was readied between striking street car motormen and conductors and the Columbus Rail-Light Company at noon today and announcement was made that car service, which was stopped by the Tstriki; for four days, would be resumed immediately. AVASIIINGTON, D. C, September 6. An earthquake of moderate intensity was recorded by the seismograph at Georgetown University today, beginning at 5:35 a. m. and continuing fifty minutes. It was lielieved the disturbance was in South America, about 1,000 miles from AAashington. NEAA YORK. X. Y., September 6. A radio message received here today by the naval communication service from the transport Leviathan, which is bringing home Gen. Pershing, stated that the ship was due to reach Ambrose lightship at 4 a. 111. Monday and would dock at S oclock.
