CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF The annual winter sale of the Kentucky Sales Co. will bo held at Lexington the week of December 1 to 0. For the first time in fifteen years there will be a grand exhibit of Arabian horses at the National Horse Show, which opens at Madison Square Garden on November 17 for the benefit of the Salvation Army. Gainsborough, the English champion of 1918, was expected to run for and win the Ascot Gold Cup as a climax to his racing career. But he went wrong in his training and will race no more. He begins stud service next year at a ,000 fee. At the Lougchamps race track in France Sunday an aviator, defying orders against flying over Paris, came- down and lauded on the main course, where the inclosures were already considerably crowded. A woman calmly jumped out of the airplane and walked off. The aviator took the air, but before he got clear of the course the machine fell, owing to one of the brace rods breaking, and crashed just inside the inclosure. The aviator, who wasnot hurt, was attacked by the crowd.
