KENTUCKYS RA CING SEASON OVER SPORT IN THE BLUE GRASS STATE FOR TEE YEAR 1919 CLOSES WITH A SPLENDID MEETING AT CHURCHILL DOWNS The annual fall meeting at Churchill Downs came to an end Saturday, November 1, and with it the .close of the, Kentucky racing season of 10l. The lirst year of racing in the Blue Grass state under the auspices of the newly-formed Kentucky Jockey Club was a pronounced .success in every way. Larger purses were offered .the class of horses taking part in the racing of a higher,. .standard than ever lcfore, while the attendance and speculation broke, all previous records. Despite the inclement weather encountered, the final mooting at Churchill Downs surpassed any previous one held at that noted course in the fall.. of the year.- The meeting was of nine days duration, during -which time sixty-three races were decided and 2,840 distributed in stakes and purses, the daily average distribution amounting to ,204. E. R. Bradley was more successful at this meeting than at any preceding one this year, his horses winning four races, and ,405, placing him at the head of the winning owners, of which the following won 00 or more each: Owner. 1st. 2d. 3d.
