The Maryland -Jockey Club has co-operated with the Jockey Club V in encouraging long distance r-acing and has offered 4, 4. big inducements to the horsemen to participate in F races over a considerable distance of ground. Saturday the chief attraction at Pimlico will be the Bowie -Handicap of 0,000 added at one mile and a half, and it now seems certain that one of the best fields I that has started in a long distance race this year will answer the bugle call. The majority of the S best three-year-olds and veteran campaigners have S been kept in training, and these are eligible to the Bowie. The field will come from the following list I of ellgibles, which include snch stars as Cudgel, Sir Barton, Exterminator, Lucullite, The Porter and I others: Bowie Handicap, for three-year-olds and over; 1 starters to pay 50 each to the winner, with 0,000 3 added, of which ,000 to the second, ,000 to the third and 00 to the fourth; one mile and a half.
