ENGLISH DEER THRIVE IN NEW ZEALAND Some forty years- ago red deer were imported into New iZcabind from England and Jt. was found .that. the conditions of the adopted home of these animals caused them to increase in numbers rapidly and also caused them, to show a marked physical improvement. The antlers on New Zealand bucks of the red deer are the finest found in any country. Most of the deer hunting is done by night stalk-Jug,; and because, of the wild nature of th? country the sport often !bccomes strenuous us - well as exciting. The deer are, so numerous in easily accessible districts that, the maximum allotments are almost certain to li! obtained by any hunter of reasonable ability and enthusiasm. This sport is indulged in chiefly during the months of March, April and May. and fees for huiitug licenses run from to 5, according to the dis tricts.
