CLEARING UPS IMPRESSIVE DEBUT English-Bred Filly Scores Like a Good One at Oriental Park — Carmody Rides Two Winners. HAVANA Cuba. January 7.— J. T. Ireland in -trodiued to the patrons of Oriental Park a fine looking English-bred filly in Clearing Dp, a daughter of Rochester — Sea Mint, which won todays opening race in a manner suggesting that she may lie above the ordinary. On the strength of some fast yvork. she was ■ warm favorite and her victory proved immensely popular. Jockey J. Carmody rode two of the afternoons winners. Puby Batata in the second and Little Nephew la the third. On the latter he put up n particularly strong finish, but for which Little Nephew might have lost. The fourth and fifth races fell to heavily -backed favorites. Bars and Stars and Tokalon March, re-pectively. both scoring in decisive fashion. The final race fell to Hyme. which beat the long shot. Duke Ruff, by three lengths. An auction sale of horses will take place at Oriental Park next Sunday. The following are to be sold: Fickle Fancy. Night Thought. Drapery. The Hlue Duke. Miss Sweep. High Tide. White Crown. Mighty Lever, Ralph S.. Deckhand, Hulger. Prince Easy and Dainty Lady. The Armenia stable is reported to have paid . -.100 for Grundy. Grace was reclaimed by her former owners. Williams Pros., after her victory yesterday.
