• OLD WESTERN STABLE TO RACE AGAIN California Turfmen Molera and Joseph to Return to the Sport— Van Gorden Two-Year-Olds. KY F. L. McKENNEY. LOS ANGELES. Cal.. January t. — The past and present of California racing an- connected picturesquely by the plans of nn-mbcrs of the- old racing firm. Molera and Joseph, to campaign a string this coming spring. Albert Joseph has been manager of the- Mtra Monte Stock Farm of Edward Cebriun at San Jose in recent years. In the- old days of the snort he was interested with E. J. Molera it: the ownership of the stake winner Bubbling Water, the sprinter Cloudlight and other need horses. Among the horses to be raced in the ne-w venture-is a tWO-year-Old of Which Cloudlight is the dam. The- youngster has been going well in morning trials at San Jose. It has not yet been decided whether or not Mr. Joseph will be interested with Mr. Mob-ra in the racing, but it is probable the old firm will be r-vived. Mr. Joseph said today Mr. Molera had only waited for the return of racing to California to once more have the enjoyment of seeing his c-cilors tip in important turf contests. Kubbling Water, a beautiful brown, by Col. Wheeler— Shasta Water, was one of the best mares that c-ve-r raced in this state. She won some of the last handicaps run at Oakland, giving away chunks of weight. With the end of the sport in California let Hie- time- being, the mare was turn-el out at tli- Vetera ranch. She died some years ago. Horsemen attending the- mee-ting at Ascot recall with interest that Cloudlight. a daughter of Bright Phoebus I.ovelight. has a brother in blood. La Bete Noire-, racing here. deadlight and Miss White Mors dam of La Be-ie Noire, are- sisters. I.ovelight was bred at Senator Lclanel Stanfords famous Palo Alto Stock Kami.
