BOWIE RACING IS NOW ASSURED Maryland Senate Passes Emergency Measure Which Will Become Law RALTIMORE Md March 20 Tlfe Maryland senate last night assured racing opening at Rowie track on April 1 by passing an amendment to the Rowie race track bill declaring it an emergency measure going into effect immediately on its pas ¬ sage by fife house and its signing by the governor The house will undoubtedly pass a similar amend ¬ ment and Governor Ritchie will sign the bill as soon as it reaches him himFor For a while there was grave danger that racing at Rowie would not start until the fall meeting for the Court of Appeals recently decided there was no legally constituted body to grant racing dates for that track A hill creating a commission passed the house the day the court handed down its decision and its passage through the senate was expedited by the knowledge that the track could not operate until the legislature tacked an emergency clause to the Rowie bill billWhile While this question was pending the directors of the track hopeful that what occurred today would come to passcontinutrl to make arrangements and yesterday it was said that some 100 horses were now in the stalls at the track and that nothing was be ¬ ing left undone that would insure a good meeting
