MORE CLAIMING RULE TINKERING NEW YORK N Y March 2fi That a change will be made in the claiming rule now in operation on tracks under Jockey Club jurisdiction seems practically certain A supplement has been added to the March Racing Calendar in which a suggestion has been made by II K Knapp seconded by F R Hitchcock to amend rule 172A eliminatm tin privilege of an owner or anyone acting in his inter ¬ est claiming his own horse from a selling or claim ¬ ing race An additional clause in the amendment stipulates that no horse shall be permitted to race in the name of its previous owner for a period of ten days from the date of claiming The amend ¬ ment will be adopted according to the system cm ployed by The Jockey Club through its issuing a supplement to its Calendar as the laws of the ruling turf body provides that any change suggested In the rules be published at least twice in the Calendar before action can be taken takenThis This implies that the suggestion is au emergency one which will be put in operationtin early part of April in time for the Maryland meetings Rule 172A as amended It will read Every horse in a selling race may be claimed by anyone except its owner or any out acting in his interest for the entered price plus the value of the race to the win ¬ ner and as much more in addition us the claimer wishes to bid bidAny Any horse so claimed shall not be eligible to tat in any race in the name or Interest of its previous owner for a term of ten racing days after the date of the race from which it was claimed I
