FIGURES OF THE HA VAN A MEETING CLOSE TO HALF A MILLION DOLLARS DISTRIBUTED DISTRIBUTEDDURING DURING THE ONE HUNDRED AND ANDTEN TEN DAYS OF RACING The Cuba American Jockey and Auto Clubs winter meeting of 191920 came to nil end with the rac ¬ ing of Sunday March 2S Altogether then were 110 days of racing at Oriental Park during which time 7 races were run and 4S227S distributed in stakes and purses The daily average distribution amounted to 4nS4r In every respect this meeting was the most successful ever held in Cuba All previous records for attendance were shattered the crowds on Saturdays Sundays and special occasions overtaxing the accommodations of the spacious and commodious Oriental Park The distribution of close to half a million of dollars in stakes and purses is in itself a record for a winter meeting at least in recent years The racing itself was of a good standard and many thrilling and interesting contests wen witnessed at one time and another The sport was held under ideal climatic conditions the weather being summerlike throughout the entire winter with but little rain and that only at long intervals The result was the track was at its best the greater part of the meeting and fast time was recorded The policy of the club in giving two 10000 added stakes met with popular favor and never before in the history of the sport in Cuba was there so much interest and enthusiasm displayed as there was in the outcome of the Grand National Handicap and Cuban Derby Had Itlne Wrack won the Cuban Derby his owner Senor A II Diaz would have finished at the top of the list of winning owners but as it was he fell short of that distinction by the small sum of Kay Spence leading with 19700 while Senor Diaz had SI to his credit Alto ¬ gether nine owners won over 10000 each The following were the successful owners ownersOwner Owner 1st 2d Id Amt AmtSilence Silence K 51 21 21 1 7 0 0Diaz Diaz A II 10 M 12 Uli r Armonia Stable IS Ill H4 r rWeant Weant W C
