RACING COLONY AT HOT SPRINGS Albert Simons Out and About Again Monfort Jones Derby Pair in Fine Condition HOT SPKINCS Ark March 0 Trainer Albert Simons who trains a division of Harry Payne Whit ¬ neys horses brought to the Spa in a serious condi ¬ tion is no anil about again When the successful trainer was brought here from New Orleans in an unconscious condition it was thought that he would not recover Careful medical attention has brought Simons around and attending physicians said today that he would surely recover Simons is out walk ¬ ing the mountains daily He expects to regain his former strength and will probably go to Kentucky for the Derby and assist James Uowe with the AVhitney horses horsesAmong Among the horses that have wintered here since Thanksgiving is the stable of Montfort Jones the Oklahoma oil magnate His stable is in charge of Snapper Harrison the former wellknown jockey Garrison has his Derby candidates Konleail and Hrookholt in excellent condition They have had the benefit of an open winter and if condition will win the Kentucky Derby no two fitter can ¬ didates will be sent Jo the post Koiilmu is the wellknown colt by Tracery Itoyal Coinage for which John E Madden naid 12500 as a yearling at the Holmont sale saleExSenator ExSenator J N Camden chairman of the Ken ¬ tucky State Uacing Commission is at the Arlington Hotel anil taking a full course iJf baths bathsDavid David Jideon called by friends the grand old man of the turf is out every day hiking over the mountains Mr Gideon who is 75 years old has the reputation of having won more Futurities under the name of Gideon Daly than any other turfman in the country He will go to Louisville to witness the Kentucky Derby DerbyJohn John W Schorr the wellknown Memphis turf ¬ man who at one time owned Cudgel Harry Kelly Ed Crump James W Clark and other prominent thoroughbreds is paying his annual visit to the Springs Pop as he is affectionately called by his friends says that he has the finest twoyearold prospect that he has owned in many years Mr Schorr will leave here in a few days for Lexington whore he will start these twoyearolds in races racesJockey Jockey Lawrence Lyke who has boon here for three weeks will leave next week for Kentucky where lie will report to his contract employer E U Hradley HradleyTheodore Theodore Cook who formerly was interested in the stable owned by the late Amos Ttirney is also among the visitors hero Mr Cook is now associated with William Martin in an extensive stable which will campaign this summer in the cast
