FRANCIS NELSON AT BOWIE Canadian Official to Be Steward at Prince George Park Stables Arriving from the South Plenty of Racing Material MaterialReady Ready for Opening Day PALTIMOIIE jr March 30 Francis Nelson of Toronto chief steward of tin Canadian looker CIuli at the AVoodbino Itliu Honnots Windsor Hamilton Fort Erie and Connaught Park course will serve in the stewards stand at Howie during tin spring session of the Southern Maryland Agri ¬ cultural Association which will begin next Thursday and run thirteen racing days Mr Nelson will take the place this spring of William P Spiirgeon managing editor of the Washington Post who must remain away for business reasons The other stewards will he Carter Hall and K C Smith the last named being the nfficiil the Jockey Clnh has appointed for the meeting The judges of the finish will lie Joseph A Murphy George T Miller and John 1 Inward Anderson Joseph Mol cnnau will serve as clerk of the course and scales and Herman Conkliug and Ernest Hall as iiatrol and paddock judges Kilward Tribe will do the starting startingThere There will lie plenty horses available for the first weeks racing the majority of the winters cam ¬ paigners here from Havana and New Orleans being in condition to face the starter In addition then are many which wintered at Hcmting and hereabouts that are now in forward condition and art working inie satisfactorilyr1 satisfactorilyr1William William Carroll ha arrived at Itcnnin track from Yew Orleans with the stable of Adolph Spreok els of San Diego California There are nine home ¬ bred twoyearolds in the Spreckols string They are sons and daughters of Unnnymcde and Voorheos VoorheosW W V Casey has moved his stable which con ¬ sists of the platers American Hoy John I Day and Iright Hold and a couple of twoyearolds from the Gentlemens Driving Park to Howie These horses are ready readyArrivals Arrivals at Howie from New Orleans during the last few days tre Eugene Lutz with the platers Lady Ward Propaganda Miss Sterling etc P C Punbnry with Grumpy and Unfits Hiley J I Solomon with Who Cares Lively and three or four others and James Kohcitson with On High Valerie West and three or four others Grumpy a veteran of many seasons and Unfits IJilej are the property of C J Hrockmiller of Ixuisville Lively seems to be the best horse of tin Solomon string stringJ J II Stotler will not tak the stable of G W C Hissell from the Driving Park to Howie this spring His horsis will not be ready for racing ahead of tho Havre de Grace meeting
