EXCELLENT STEEPLECHASE PROSPECTS Over Fifty Jumpers in Schooling at Pimlico with Many Speculators Out to See Them Work Work11AVUK 11AVUK DE GItACi Md April 27 The Maryland Jockev Club will feature steoplechasing at its Pimlici meeting the policy of the club during the past few years being to give at least one jumping race a day Yesterday fully three hundred turned out at the Hilltop track to witness the steeplechas ¬ ers school There were fifTi ladies in the throng and as much enthusiasm was evinced as during the running of a regular race Fifty horses were put over the fences and the general impression was that they were much above the average of previous vears This applies to the veterans as well as the green fencers AVilliam Garth showed ten among them AVarlock Esquimau Itoyal Arch and Le Marsouin with old Stucco as the schoolmaster The threeyearold Aiulet Tip showed up particu ¬ larly well and gives promise of developing into a great jumper She will probably be the stables reliance in the Harbor Hill next fall fallOne One of the most impressive schoolings was that of James Flannigan Jrs Lytle This horse was only developed last fall and it seems he will develop into a topnotcher this year yearSilas Silas Aeitch schooled a green one Gcnevieve 1 that cleared the fences like an oldtimer oldtimerJ J Howard Lewis brought out some of his known performers while tin crowd was in the inlield and later about noon when the track was about de ¬ serted he slipped two of his several new ones out They made one turn of the field fencing in faultless fashion fashionCandle Candle and Kingstown Pier of the J Lumsden string worked together with Candle always hold ¬ ing command This horse pulled tin nodding but it is a regular thing with him after a gallop lie appears in line fettle and should hold his own es ¬ pecially in Canada where his owmir contemplates racing racingGwyn Gwyn Tompkins sent the speedy Highland Light through the Held It was her lirst appearance over the fences and she jumped well wellMatt Matt Prady sent Itrooks Earlocker The Six Hundred and Valspar a turn of the tiebl and later brought out a second string which included a good looking maiden by AllanaDale which jumps well Aalspar goes to his fences like a veteran veteranTin Tin F Ambrose Clark strint was out They had a rough trip from Aiken but none of them met with any mishap en route north
