MUDLARKS DAY AT LATONl Rain and Mud Bring About Two Substituted Races Close Finishes a Feature The ThePorter Porter Going East to Run in inthe the Brooklyn Handicap PY J L DEMPSEY DEMPSEYLATOXIA LATOXIA Ky June 21 Heavy rains follow ¬ ing the cold weather resulted in a difficult track today and caused two of the races originally in ¬ tended as features to be declared off and a pair of dashes at a mile and a sixteenth substituted to make up a sevenrace program Light fields started in all the dashes as a result of the nu ¬ merous withdrawals but the attendance was up to the former good standard and the racing was interesting notwithstanding mud performers were given preference preferenceThere There was no particular feature among the longer dashes four being at a mile and a sixteenth and over holding out the chief interest Favorites began well Gipsy Queen and Mary Jane linker accounting for the opening races The third race developed a betting duel between the supixirters of Kinbtirn and Brookholt with the lat ¬ ter triumphing by a neck after a wellsustained stretch drive driveGallahor Gallahor Pros also furnished the disappointment in the fourth race in their notional liournbou Lad which was beaten home by Dr Rac The finish between this pair was another hard stretch duel only a neck separating the leaders at the finish finishIJafferty IJafferty favorite in the fifth race flattered extensively but after going threequarters Lyke hot Iwiniwin Ijyjiim witha rushnnd the latter won by a safe margin with Booneville an out ¬ sider in second place and Raffcrty heading the others There was considerable support for Ma ¬ rasmus in this but he fell lame after going a half mile and pulled up in a bad way wayErnest Ernest B had the call in the sixth race and he won from Wave which had been his closest contender from the start Quito also racing for wardly all the way and finishing in third place placeMeliora Meliora bled in the first race which cost her second place placeEdward Edward 15 McLeans crack racer The Porter leaves tomorrow for Aqueduct where he will start in the Brooklyn Handicap He will be in charge of trainer John F Schorr and bo1 accompanied in the car by Jimmy Trigger They are intended to unload at the Long Island track Wednesday morn ¬ ing and it will give The Porter a full day to get over his trip before going to the post in the old established fixture Jockey OBrien will leave here Wednesday and have the mount The Porter will be returned hero after the running of the Brooklyn Handicap and fill his later engagements at this track He was worked a mile after the first race this afternoon and covered the distance in easy style in 143 143Two Two cars ot horses the property of H Oots M and J Lowenstein and H Xeusteter were shipped to Hamilton Out where they will be raced at the coming meeting there and later on at the other Canadian tracks Jockey Stuck went with the Lowenstein stable stableJockey Jockey B Kennedy returned to the saddle this afternoon his unklc not bothering him i
