MEMBERSHIP IN THE JOCKEY CLUB Conferred on Man o Wars Owner S D Riddle and J E Davis of New York NEW YORK N Y July 8 At a meeting of The Jockey Club hold at the Aqueduct track yes terday afternoon Messrs S D Riddle of Glen Riddle Farm Pennsylvania owner of Man o War and Joseph E Davis of New York were elected to membership in that organization Mr Riddle has taken a most active interest in racing for many years and before that was a prominent ex hibitor of hunters having some of the best Irish and homebred jumpers for many years lie won numerous championship with Willow King and other great halfhreds at the Garden and outdoor shows Mr Davis while a much more recent graduate in racing has been prominent in the crosscountry sport and has owned some good tim ¬ bertoppers He is one of the stewards of the National Hunt and Steeplechase Association and has been a factor in restoring confidence in that branch of the sport
