G M HENDRIES RANCHER Stages Comeback and Wins the Kenilworth Inaugural Feature Lowers Track Record for Mile and andOne One Eighth in Annexing the theTolmie Tolmie Handicap WINDSOR Ontario July 22 George M Hen dries oldtimer Rancher staged a comeback and upset the calculations f the talent in winning the Tolmie Handicap inaugural feature of the Kenilworth Park meeting also establishing a new track record for the track at a mile and an eighth Outrunning his opponents from the start under good riding by jockey Willis the old son of Gal vcston Sweet Layendar held his race safely at all times and won under light restraint with Regalo second and Wynnewood third Ranchers time for the distance was 1535 and lowered the mark es ¬ tablished by Hilly Culbertson as a fouryearold The real contest developed between Regalo and Wynnewood for second place The latter a forward contender from the start stood a hard drive game ¬ ly but tired in the last sixteenth and surrendered the second portion of tlie purse to Regalo The latter moved up rapidly when an eighth out and after passing Wynnewood appeared equal to the task of overhauling the winner but tired slightly when asked for the final effort Slippery Elm which was accorded favoritism on the strenjth of his excellent race in the mud at Windsor finished fourth getting home ahead of Drastic only Twelve maiden twoyearolds met in the first race and Charles Henry with H Lunsford up winning in a canter with the firsttime starter Artisan second after a sharp brush with Old Chap which in turn was hard pressed by Mr X another Tirsttime starter starterMallowmot Mallowmot was considered best in the following race but found a tartar in Rex Gaiety the latter racing into the lead after Galway tired and holding it to the end endA A fast band of sprinters faced the barrier in tlie third St Quentin with Butwell in the saddle being heavily backed to win He did so iu easy fashion leading home old Top o th Morning by three lengths lengthsE E J Crawford will ship his stable including Snapdragon II to Saratoga during the week Jockey Arthur Morgan who had contracted to ride for him on tlie Canadian circuit will remain here for the present presentJockey Jockey Riehcrceks suspension expired today but he was unable to return to the saddle because of an infection of tlie leg A scratch on one of his shins became infected and according to the doctor who attended him a serious case of blood poison ¬ ing was narrowly averted by timely treatment treatmentMrs Mrs R A Moore has added Sundnria and King Breeze to her string both being liought from K Murray at private sale saleJoseph Joseph Murphy the handicapper left last night for Saratoga William SaratogaWilliam Starr of Indianapolis is an arrival
