slreets and in the principal hotel lobbies The advance guard is beginning to size up fairly well alongside of those of former years The real crowd however that will be liere for the period of racing is not expected before Sunday SundayArrivals Arrivals of horses continued steadily this morn ¬ ing and their removal to th track from the cars was attended by some discomfort on account of heavy showers that fell at intermittent periods The I newcomers sent the total above the 1000 mark with 300 more horses expected Track superintendent Clare is at his wits end bow to properly care for the latecomers and bis burdens were enlarged by tho arrival of horses for which no provision had been niadeSv niadeSvAs As a result of the morning rainfall there was partial cessation of training operations But the work watchers were amply rewarded by the pres ¬ ence of the redoubtable Man o War on the main track and his subsequent easy gallop of a mile andean eighth in n shade under 152 the first uUS l bptter liiM l aSJta itrvn cl rsrsiJnXni rellent condition while he took the gallop and he accomplished his work in the easiest manner possible The liighpriced Inchcape was another in which interest centered He turned a half mile in 47 and accomplished it impressively His debut here will lie in one of the earlier stakes of the meeting Judging by expressions heard the HildrethSInclair rrack will not have a walkover by any means when lie does make his racing appearance for several owners are only too anxious to pit their youngsters against him The Kcntuckians E R Bradley and J O Keene are among the numbers who will not dodge him and are anxious to test the merits of their respective cracks Black Servant and Pagan Pan against Inchcape The two Kentucky colts will have an early eastern racing introduction for both are intended starters in the Flash Stakes on the opening day J 0 Keene is also figuring on cutting an extensive figure with his Miss Muffins The filly is in fine form and will be started in the Schuylerville Stakes next Thursday Pagan Pan and Miss Muffins are Keenes mainstay for most of his other racers he brought will be in ¬ active partly due to baving contracted shipping fever en route here from Kentucky KentuckyThe The Bradley consignment consisting of fourteen the pick of his entire racing establishment is ex ¬ pected to figure prominently in the racing and will be in action frequently His crack threeyearold filly Busy Signal is training in excellent style and the same applies to Black Servant Believe Idle Hour and bis other good twoyearolds
