W. P. JOHNSONS BARGAIN YEARLINGS LEXINGTON, Ky., August 30. Waldo P. Johnson of Chicago stopped off here today en route to Knoxville, on a business trip, and went out to Beaumont Faun to see the two colts by Jack Atkins he purchased out of the Headley and Mullcr sale at Saratoga. He was here a short while before the sale and wanted to buy the colts privately, but Hal Price Headley wanted 0,000 for them. He offered ,000, but Headley declined it. "Then," said Johnson, "Ill give you an order to start each of them at ,000 and buy them as cheaply as you can foi- me up to ,500 each." He got the brother to Heury R. for ,700 and the brother to Brownie MeDawell for ,000. Mr. Johnson stated that he has engaged "Dick" Denny to train the two colts and the black colt by Dick Welles Miss Alert, which he bought from J, 15. Respess; also the chestnut filly by Jim Gaffney Little Bit, which he bred. Mr. Johnson will also have several older horses in the string, which lie intends to race at New Orleans next winter.
