The improved Salvation gelding, however, had strong support and was backed from an opening of 7 to 5 to nearly even money at post time. Thunderstorm, which opened favorite, receded in the betting as the calls became more frequent for the Macomber entry. Tailor Maid set the pace, followed by Royce Rools, and made it fast. It was a fast run race. Jockey Ensor and Albert A. proved the winning combination jn the third race, a dash of a mile for the higher-class platers. Abadane was the odds-on choice jn the race, but when it came to the finish jockey Ktunmer failed to outride Ensor on Albert A., with the result that the latter received the decision by a head. At this pcint St. Isidore was done and Abadane forged to the front, bift Albert A. proved the gainer of the two in a whipping finish. Natural Bridge got. up in time to boat the tiring St. Isidore for third money. Jockey Ensor brought Santa Claus home first in the second race, a two-year-old dash at five-eighths of a mile. Getting off in front the Or-mondale colt held sway for the entire way, winning easily by two and a half lengths. Episode, the favorite, finished second.
