ALL PURSE DAY AT LEXINGTON BY J. L. DEMPSEY. LEXINGTON, Ky., September 24. Of routine order was the racing this afternoon, nothing resembling a feature being offered, but the immense throng of racing enthusiasts was unmindful and on hand in a generous number. The sport was keen, many of the finishes being of the close variety," with early contention exciting. Favorites and second choices were in the majority and most of the dashes were taken by them. The three-quarters sprint, .with four speedy ones starting, was held the lieadliner and it resulted in an easy victory for Lady Luxury over Brig of War, with Sam Reh following the latter closely. Lady Luxury was in tlte nature of a surprise, for the "sharps held the race to be between Brig of War and Sam Reh. The former led flatteringly until well along in the stretch, where he relinquished the lead to the winner and saved second place only by virtue of the incompetency of Marco astride Sam Reh. The racing was inaugurated with a victory for Ruby, the first that the J. Umensetter colors have achieved this year in Kentucky. Ruby ran as if much the best. j Kingfisher was held in high favor in the third I race, but lie had a hard time in getting home in advance of Sams Boy. Quick View proved the best in the fiftli race and managed to outstay Countess and Mary G. I Social Star gave Lloyd Gentry an opportunity to score his first purse of the meeting when lie led for the entire way in the sixtli race and beat Ring Rose and Planet. The much interefered with Plato was the favored one in the race, but the best lie could do was to land in fourth place. Lloyd Gentry made it a double when his Ground-Swell won the final race. She was ridden by the diminutive MitcheRj who scales less than seventy pounds and gave", an excellent riding performance. Jockey Earl Sonde is expected here to ride Star "Voter in the Breeders Futurity, which features tomorrows closing here.
