i EXTERMINATOR AND OUR FLAG Carry Off Two of the Big Features at Woodbine for W. S. Kilmer Steeplechase to Barklie. TORONTO, Out., October 2. It was a red letter day for Willis Sbarpe Kilmer at the Woodbine course this afternoon when the colors of the Bing-hamtou breeder were carried to victory in two of the big stake events of the closing program of the Ontario Jockey Club. Our Flag won the Grey Stakes, a dash of a mile for two-year-olds, while Exterminator led home his opponents in the Ontario Jockey Club .Cup, at two and a quarter miles. Both winners were ridden by jockey Fairbrother. The running of the drey Stakes brought together the best of the juveniles quartered at the course and on the strength of private works the Kilmer representative was accorded favoritism. The start was a good one aud Ikey T., as expected, was the one to go to the front. Fairbrother was content to lay behind the pace., Grune rushed Baby Grand after Ikey T. at the eighth post and he appeared all over the wiuner. However, Our Flag, under energetic handling, closed with a great burst of speed and got up in the final few yards to win by a head. In the Ontario Jockey Club Cup Exterminator was never in danger of defeat. He shouldered his heavy impost in his usual courageous style, following the pacemaker closely for a mile and a half, then moved to the front and gamely outstayed Bondage. W. Mc-Daniel. trainer of Exterminator, was presented with the silver cup that goes to the winner of this race. A. great ovation was accorded the popular gelding on his return to the scales. Another American turfman carried off the other stake feature of the afternoon when Walter M. Jeffords Barklie was returned an easy winner of the Hendrie Steeplechase. Racing secretary Joe McLennan and patrol judge Willie Martin departed for Windsor this morning.
