PA VIA began slowly, but was rushed into a forward, position in the Erst eighth and, finishing gamely, outstayed OCEAN SWELL in the final drive. OCEAN SWELL set a fast pace and tired, but finished resolutely. DAY LILLY was in close quarters on the inside. SILENCE ran poorly. ST. GUELAND, a prominent"cdhterider from the start, took the lead on the far turn and, holding on gamely when challenged, outstayed MOSE in the final drive, but his rider struck MOSE over the head, for which ho was disqualified. MOSE followed the leader closely and made a game effort ill the homestretch, but "was tiring in the closing strides. ASTERISK saved ground on the turns and had no mishaps. THUNDERSTORM was shuffled back while going to the first turn and gained steadily when called on, but was forced wide on the stretch turn, then closed up fast in the last eighth and outstayed TAILOR MAID. The latter ran a good race and finished gamely. CROMWELL set a fast pace, but quit in the stretch. ALFHEE retired after going well for a mile. Scratched 50872 War Mask, 105.
