PRINCE OF WALES JUMPER Kinlark Good Australian Gelding and Gift Horse May Go in Grand National. The English newsmen are making quite a fuss over the Australian gift horse to tlie Prince .of Wales, Kinlark, which landed from the Thermis-tocles at Plymouth, November 16, sound and well. He is expected to appear among the Grand National Steeplechase entries, along with tlie other Australian gelding Mabu, recently bought witli Grand National designs by Spencer Gollan, an old hand at tlie jumping game. Mabu is by far the better of the two Australian-bred geldings. But Kinlark is no slouch. J: N. Niall, a Sydney, N. S. W., man, has owned him for several years and tlie horse has run in good company and performed well always. Kinlark is an eight-year-old gelding, by Kincumber Woodchat and was a respectable flat racer before becoming a jumper. He won but two of eleven races in the last Australian season. After his last win he was presented to and accepted by the Prince, "who also backed him for tlie race. At Flemingtou, Melbourne, April 24, Kinlark won tlie Neerum Chase, two and three-eighths miles and eighty yards, under 164 pounds in 4:40"4, and witli 167 pounds up was second to Iolaus, 139 pouiuls, for the Australian 0,000 Grand National Steeplechase, run at Flemington, July 10. JThe three and an eighth miles of this race was run in 0:15. The Australian record for the distance is Terriepmans 0:12, with but 139 pounds up. At any rate if Kinlark trains well and is entered the Prince will have a respectable representative in the field for the Grand National Steeplechase of 1921.
