JOYNER PRAISES MAN 0 WAR I was pleased to get a letter this week from Joyner, who made so many friends in this country during his stay at Newmarket. He says that they have had a big year of racing in the States, "but outside of a few, our horses have not been of much class. Man o War" is a great horse; in fact, he is a freak. That is, he seems to do unnatural things on the race track. I never saw a horse in my forty years on the turf that could stand the phenomenal trials he ran, and to run as fast us he did, and apparently as good as ever, when he ran his match. In this country he could rim fast and far. I would like 1o see him go to England: but I believe there is no chance, as his owner has retired him. Some day I hope to see you all." The above is really interesting, for people have come to regard the high falutiu reports of American champions with a certain amount of skepticism, but what Joyner says will always pass for truth in this country, and his approval sets the seal on Man o Wars reputation.
