NEW 10000 CROSSCOUNTRY STAKE NEAY YOKK N Y February 1S Some time ago the management of the AVostchestcr Kacing Association announced that it would do seincthing handsome for the steeplechasing interests and it lias kept its promise It will open for entry March HI a successor to the i000 I5rook Cup Steeple ¬ j chase which has for some years been a feature of the autumn meetings at Helmout Park The new race will be known as the Hrook Handicap Steeple ¬ chase and it will have an added value of 10000 and will bo unique it is conditions which will call for an entrance fee of 25 and no other obligation The 10000 will be divided 7500 to winner 1500 to second S7il to third and J0 to fourth The entrance moneys will be devoted to the purchase of a cup or other trophy for the owner of the winner winnerThe The distance will be two and a half miles and it will probably be run ou the closing day of the falj meeting at Helmout 1ark
