CONFERENCE HAS NO RESULT New York and Maryland Turf Bodies Fail to Agree Over Shilling NEW YOKK N Y March 4 The Jockey Club Maryland Kacing Commission conference which ended Tuesday evening came to nothing in the way of agreement The Shilling case is still a disturbing issue Maryland influences may cause Shilling to be granted a riding license and if this action is taken a serious situation will turn up Other licenses will be affected and out of the dif ¬ ferences complications over entries will come There are some complications over certain racing rules but these are not serious seriousThe The Jockey Clubs official report of the confer ¬ ence is as follows followsThe The stewards of the ockey Club and repre ¬ sentatives of the Maryland Kacing Commission have been in conference for two afternoons in regard to the rules and regulations of racing These confer ¬ ences were harmonious except in connection with one or two questions which it is hoped can be ad ¬ justed at some future time Naturally the Mary ¬ land Kacing Commission Jiaving been created for that purpose will exercise its own jurisdiction over racing in that state In complying with the law In Maryland the Maryland Racing Commission had made certain changes in its proposed rules and regulations some of which were not entirely satis ¬ factory to the Jockey Clid but it was the senti ¬ ment that no differences in matter of detail per ¬ taining to the rules shouWl be permitted to inter ¬ fere with the harmonious relations existing among those interested in tin welfare of the turf turfThe The Maryland political influence brought into the case by parties interested in Shilling is the principal cause of what differences exist The Maryland commissioners are well set in their ideas of their powers and are inclined to bend but little from those ideas
