ANOTHER BRADLEY MARVEL Bit of White Wins in a Way Sug ¬ gesting Greatness St Augustine Wins in a Past Run RunThree Three Quarters Paris Maid MaidScores Scores with Ease LATONIA Ky June 1C E R Bradley s picture filly Bit of While by Sunstar Dreamy made her initial bid for queenly supremacy among the three yearold fillies and her performance this afternoon in the mile and a sixteenth handicap entitles her to every consideration for she beat five others of her age conceding to each of them considerable weight and won with the utmost ease At all times she reigned supreme and the fast pace she made throughout had her followers badly spent long before the major part of the journey was completed That she only passed the finish a neck in advance of Firebrand was due to Lyke easing her up to a canter in the last sixteenth and the riders action likewise put the fillys victory in jeopardy Lyke seemingly did not note the close proximity of Fire ¬ brand when he began easing her up long before the finish was reached and she was virtually off stride and almost stopped when she flashed by the judges Had Lyke gone about big business she would have won by five lengths instead of the neck she was In front of Firebrand at the end Planet which was reckoned a dangerous contender before the race did not race to his usual good standard and had his work cut out to head Bettina for third place He was far back in the early running and it might be that ho is training off offThe The Bradley colors were triumphant in a double during the afternoon Bobbed Hair halfsister to tliis years Kentucky Derby victor Behave Yourself graduated from the maiden ranks when she led a big band of juveniles home in the second race Her success like that of Bit of White was accomplished in an easy manner mannerWhile While the handicap over the mile and a six ¬ teenth was accounted the feature the three quarters purse race preceding it was not devoid of interest and brought to the post some crack sprinters Including the reintroduced St Augustine a crack in his day and evidently again in form He displayed a measure of speed akin to that which was his wont to show in his heyday He began fast showed high speed from the start and wna easing up at the end of the threequarters In 111 Rapid Day was closest to him at tho finish and Jack Hare Jr third The latter made his usual honest effort but the hard track and his bad underpinning made a bad combination and the horse showed decided symptoms of lame ¬ ness on his return to the scales scalesHot Hot or disagreeable weather does not seem to have any bearing on the matter of attendance here It was an extremely hot dny but the crowd was again of generous size The speculation also was normal The absence of wind was con ¬ ducive to fast racing and good time was the order in nearly all the dashes Several of the finishes elicited considerable enthusiasm enthusiasmAfter After several disappointments Paris Maid raced to her best form and aided by a good ride and n desperate chance that Pool took to break through on the stretcli turn she won with tase from tho well intended Lothair LothairBernice Bernice K which furnished a surprise in her last race when she won repeated this afternoon and beat a fairly good band in the sixth Red Leaf and Wm Oldt following her home homeGroundSwell GroundSwell Sirocco and Honor Man was the order of the finish in the opener GroundSwell win ¬ ning after a drive The restraining tactics em ¬ ployed on her in her last race was lacking this afternoon and it enabled her to lead for the entire distance Honor Man in this was n supposed good tiling but failed as if short shortThe The mile and a quarter dash had the limit num ¬ ber of starters and developed the outstanding sur prise of the afternoon in Nonskids victory It was his first race in the colors of his new owner Brit ¬ ish Liner was again in second place placeNorman Norman McFarlane owner of Helen Rogers nnd others departed for his home in Montreal this morning The horses will continue to race here until the close of the Latonia meeting meetingJockey Jockey Lunsford was suspended for three days by postNugent the starter for disobedience at the post Nugent Bros intend to ship their horses shortly to Canada to be raced in the Dominion for the remainder of the spring and summer
