WINDSOR STAKES FILL WELL Eastern and Kentucky Nominations Large and of Quality Expect 1100 Horses HorsesWINDSOR WINDSOR Ont June 18 Harry Payne Whit ¬ ney Willis Sharpe Kilmer E B McLean T C McDowell Commander J K L Itoss and the Kan cocas Stable are the heaviest nominators to tlie Windsor Jockey Club stakes entries of which closed last week weekReservations Reservations have been made for 110V horses and judging from the quality of the entries to the stake races many star racers from the East and Ken ¬ tucky as well as Canada will find shelter in the Windsor stables stablesThis This year the clash of the cream of the thorough ¬ bred handicap division will be more conspicuous them ever judging from the numerous highclass performers which have been named to start in the Frontier and Essex Handicaps and also in the fix ¬ tures at Kenilworth Park during the meeting at that track beginning July 20 20When When the visiting horsemen come to Windsor this year they will look upon one of the most beautiful and best equipped tracks in the country For nearly a quarter of a century the Windsor Jockpy Club plant has undergone more or less expensive im provemonts between racing seasons but of all the betterments added in the past none lias been as elaborate as those just completed for the approach ¬ ing meeting meetingIn In arranging for an increased Keating capacity to 10000 the course has lost none of its attractive ¬ ness in tlie addition of new bleachers aad ex ¬ tenuated pavilion space for the parimutnels Tlie original rustic scene has been maintained while the clubhouse improvements fit into a nicety to the general attractive landscape scene sceneSo So anxious have been the owners of fashionable stables to secure stable room at Windsor this year that many have wired for accommodations fearlnu that possibly the instructions of their agents might miscarry It is a problem and will be a problem for superintendent Sam Farmer to find room for all the horses thatwHlbe shippcd here for the meeting Owners who shipped half a dozen head in previous years have asked for space for double and triple that number of racers this year E B McLean shipped one of his horses to Windsor last year The Porter which finished second in t5ie Frontier Handicap on a rainy afternoon This year Mr McLean wired personally after his agent had filled out blanks for the same thing to reserve stalls for twentysix head of his horses In addition to Tlie Porter he has nominated Mint Cat and Lough Storm for the Frontier For the Provincial Stakes for twoyearolds he has entered several highly bred youngsters including Dream of Allah by the unbeaten Colin Friar Dixon by Friar Rock Le ochares II by Ben Brush and Saddle and Boots by Boots and Saddle If breeding counts at all in developing winners Mr McLean has a sweet looking band of twoyearolds for the races racesCommander Commander J 1C L Ross the Montreal sports ¬ man has designs on the Frontier he having en ¬ tered Billy Kelly Boniface Star Voter Baby Grand King Thrush and Milkmaid for the 10000 stake Willis Sharpe Kilmer had a single string to his Frontier bow last year in Exterminator but this year he has named in addition Magic Silence and Our Flag FlagWilliam William Perkins and John C Fcrriss of Kentucky are coming to Windsor with many useful racing tools the former with thirty and the latter with twenty head Both of these horsemen are familiar figures iu this neck o the woods having raced in this vicinity for many years Really it wouldnt seem like an oldtime Windsor meeting if Perkins and Fcriiss were not visible on the quarter stretch each racing day
