TRAINER W. H. MANSURS DEATH LONDON. England. July 22. W. II. Mansur, the well known ex-trainer, died at Newmarket yesterday, :i:;ed S.". Few turfmen had had a more varied experience. After an apprenticeship he went to Cairo to take charge of the breeding and racing studs of Ismail Pacha, and from there he migrated to Russia, where lie trained for the imperial government. In 1S70 Mansur returned to England and started training at Newmarket. One year Mansur turned out 134 winners, lie went in for buying and exporting horses on a big scale, and at one time had a paddock and stables in Buenos Ayres. One of Mansurs sons, George, went to America witii the Duke of lioauforts Strathrose in 1S94, for the Worlds Fair Derby, in which he ran last. Young Mansur also trained The Panther, which ran so ingloriously in the Epsom Derby of 101U.
