AL PIERCE, on the outside all the way, made a wide turn when entering the stretch, hut came on fast and held OUR BIRTHDAY safe at the end. The latter was going fast at the end. PHANTOM FAIR forced a fast early pace and, racing SUGARMINT into defeat, took the lead and withstood a challenge from IMA FRANK, but tired and gave way when the winner drew up. SUGARMINT set the early pace and, after being passed, came again at the finish. IMA FRANK began well, but was taken behind the leaders and came wide on the stretch turn losing ground.
