BIG CROWD AT CLEVELAND About 7,000 People Witness Inauguration of Racing at New Maple Heights Track. CLEVELAND, Ohio, October 22. A crowd of about 7,000 turned out for the opening of the Ohio State Jockey Clubs new track at Maple Heights. Both the horses and riders were given enthusiastic applause as they paraded for the initial race. The weather conditions were ideal and the track dried out rapidly as tlie afternoon progressed. Taking the lead at the start R. H. Harveys Apple Jack II. never left the result in serious doubt in the ,000 handicap, at three-quarters, which featured the inaugural days program. After mild tirging Fornovo easily earned second money from The Desert. The most exciting finish of the afternoon came with the running of the seventh, an added race, in which Bex Gaiety barely lasted to win by a head margin from Jazz. The remainiug winners scored with considerable to spare after leading throughout. Jockey E. Fator was an arrival today from Laurel, Md. He will ride here during the meeting. Four of the S. Polk stable were .skipped to Tijuana from Laurel,, the remaining three members of the string arriving here today.
