Old Huford furnished a surprise when he came ; from behind in the stretch in the second race and defeated the tiring pacemaker. Primitive. The latter drew away into a long lead in the early stages, but tired badly in the last quarter. In a thrilling stretch drive Rengalese closed a big gap in the third race and just managed to get up in the final strides to beat Judge Hudrow by a I nose. The latter made all the pace, hut tired. a Hill Hunlcv. the even money favorite in the fourth, had ;: rough time in the early stages. which was responsible for his defeat. He gained steadily in the last half mile, but could not up. -.1. Alfred Clark lasting long enough to boat him by a length and a half.
