PREPARING FOR SPRING RACES Trainers and Riders for Maryland— Bowie and Havre de Grace News. BALTIMORE. Md., March 24.— Joseph McLennan, raciug secretary at both Rowie and Havre de Grace, has paid a visit to ihe Renning track in the interest of the inaugural attraction at Rowie and the four-,000 stake races to be decided at Havre tie Grace. No purse at Havre de Grace will be worth less than SI. 200. Five of these will be run daily. One will be SI. 500 and the other S2.500. The steeplechases, run on alternate days, will be worth 82.000. The Chesapeake Stakes of one and one-sixteenth milch. S5.000 added, will be an early test for Preakness and Derby candidates at Havre de Grace. Charles Thompson, who rode Rehave Yourself, winner of the Kentucky Derby last spring, and who prevented Edward K. Rradley from winning a fortune in the winter books because he backed Black Servant, is due at Pimiieo to gallop horses for the Seagram Stable. William P. Riggs, secretary of the Maryland Jockey Club, is spending several days in New York going over the program book with Frank J. Bryaa, ihe official Pimlico handicapper. The names of the Rowie officials for the April race meeting, which begins April 1, were sent to the Maryland Racing Commission today. The law requires that they be forwarded ten days before the opening of each meeting. Trainers and jockeys continue to apply for Maryland licenses.
