BOWIE CONDITIONS BETTER! . 1 Sun and Wind Dries Out Course for Mondays Racing. Super Easily Takes Main Contest — Favorites in Front and Speculation Heavy. ♦ i BOWIE. Mel.. April 3 — TJiere was no outstanding attraction at Bowie this afternoon, bat the card wliicii was down Tor decision served to bring together well balanced fields and resulted in stirring racing. What was accorded the post of honor, was a dash of seven-eighths and it brought together a KOod band of iiorformers. The race was a claiming affair and resulted in victory for G. W. Foremans Super, with War Note and Lucky 15. second and third respectively. Theie was a delay at the post due to the fractious behavior of several of the starters. The field was dispatched to a good start and The Lamb was the one to cut our the early pace with Hidden Jewel. Bennington and Lucky B. in closest pursuit, with Super blinking up the rear. The latter, a slow beginner, made his move when the field leached the far turn and was taken on the outside of the leaders at the top of the stretch. When s-ettled down for the final dash, Super gained on his opponents with every stride and passing theiu in the lust sixteenth, drew away at the end. War Note, after a good performance held Lucky B. safe for second place. Racing conditions this afternoon were vastly lmpiored over those which prevailed the opening day aud a crowd of big proportions was on hand to witness the days sport. The track benefitted by a strong sun yesterday, and light winds this morning dried out rapidly and was fast when the bugle sounded for the opening dash. Speculation was of a big volume and first choices • -counted for the majority of the days races. The .1. L. Whalebone began to tire rapidly at the top of the stretch and Siesta moved into prominent contention.
