CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF M. IT. Veil Pieard will have second claim on the services of the American jockey Guy Garner, who i ides in France as first jockey to the Aga Khan. All of the pre-war French stake events, which have been suspended during a period of years, have been restored for the IMS racing season at Chan-tilly. Commander J. K. L. Ross was an interested spectator of French racing on his recent visit to France. He is now in England and will return hoine shortly. The Argentine breeding season now begins on July 1 instead of August 1. so that there is not so much diffeionco betweea an early foal to their season and a late one to our own. The Societe Sportive dEncouragement of France has decided not to hold any more steeplechase or hurdle races over the fine turf course at Maisons-Lafitte because of the damage to the turf. The 1913 Melbourne Cup winner, Posinattis has for a long time past lieen used by the Rev. Father Clancy of Tenterfield. Victoria, Australia, as a hack. It is a different sphere from his old one. but Posinatus is still proving useful. He is thirteen years old. Among the recent arrivals in England to try his luck as a rider is Fernandez, the South African jockey, who goes to scale at about 105 pounds and has been for some years J. B. Joels first jockey out there. G. S. Weale. an Australian, who has trained the Joel stable, accompanied Fernandez. Jockey H. McAfee is galloping the steeplechasers Bencher. Siipc-rba and Flying Frog, the property of t;eorge Elliott, at the hitters farm in Canada. McAfee rode Bencher in all his races last year whin the Canadian jumper mine through with flying col-■ ors — six victories in as many starts and stable e-arnings of 0,19"i to his credit.
